Snow Days

Snow in Arkansas.  It doesn't take much to get us excited about getting snow here.  The forecast predicted 3-6 inches in our area and in my neighborhood we got somewhere between 2-4 inches....depending on where you were standing.  :)  My kids played out in the snow for two hours, decked out in their insulated coveralls, heavy coats, face masks, gloves and boots.  Across our yard you could see snow angels, cat foot prints, bird tracks, and attempted snowmen.  The temperature has remained cold enough to keep most of the snow all around us.

My oldest son enjoys taking pictures now more than playing in the snow.  Here are some of his photos:

As you can see, he had a fun time.  He was at the bottom of a hill behind our neighbors yard writing his name.  They have a huge yard and no children at home and they enjoy having our children play in their yard.

"Under the microscope, I found that snowflakes were miracles of beauty; and it seemed a shame that this beauty should not be seen and appreciated by others. Every crystal was a masterpiece of design and no one design was ever repeated. When a snowflake melted, that design was forever lost. Just that much beauty was gone, without leaving any record behind."

I am in awe of the beauty God created in such a small piece of ice crystal.  He didn't have to make them beautiful, yet He did, so those who would take the time to STOP and look at them could enjoy them.  You can enjoy photographs of snowflakes at the Snowflake Bentley website

Next time it snows, take time to stop and enjoy the beauty of those tiny snowflakes.
